Measures how much iron is bound to transferrin.
What it measures
It measures the proportion of transferrin that is carrying iron.
Why it is tested
It is commonly used to help assess iron status and iron overload.
Low results
Low results may be associated with iron deficiency or chronic disease.
High results
High results may be associated with iron overload or haemochromatosis.
